Once on This Island
On Stage & Off - Sellersville, PA
This show was performed at Sellersville Theater 1894 in the Summer of 2004. The aim of the look was to reflect the specifically "island" look of the show, while also referencing the French roots of the rich people. Every actor was a storyteler, but some had other roles as well. As storytellers, every actor added a print or multicolor fabric to a solid colored base. Sometimes it was as simple as a vest or a wrap skirt. The children all wore various multicolored ensembles. The gods each had an element of chiffon, netting, or an otherwise sheer piece of fabric as well as a crown that differentiated them from the other characters. The pictures below are scanned from my portfolio and not very large. Notice, however, the sketches next to each costume as a basis for their design.
